Two questions

Postby canman » Thu Aug 25, 2005 11:48 am

If anybody could assist me with two technical questions I would be forever in there debt(or really thankful)
1. Recently I installed a program that is suppossed to clean up all kinds of garbage from your computer, corrupted files etc. But since installing it, my computer never remebers any of my passwords or anything. Everytime I click on FG I always have to manually log in. What do I have to change for my computer to remember my passwords etc.
2. I'm using skype( I hope that isn't a problem with the mods) anyway for some reason some of the screens I click on I can't see the bottom of them. I can't scroll down or anything. If I put my cursor on the top blue of the page I can lift it a little but not enough.
As I said I appreciate any help. Thanks!

I'm presuming you are talking about passwords on websites and not necessarily on your PC programs/CMOS....But it sounds like the new program has changed your broswer setting to reject ALL cookie files. The reason why websites recognized you in the past was that they gave your PC a cookie file that identified you and when you returned to the site, they looked for one of their cookies, and saw it and knew it was you returning to the site. Various browsers let you set your level of cookie acceptence (often the settings are Never, sometimes (no 3rd party cookies), always). In my windows dayz, every week or so, I would manually sort through the cookies folder and delete out those I didn't see the point of and use a text editor such as word pad to manually edit the cookie.txt file. Some cookies are bad in the sense that they can be used to track your browsing remotely (often 3rd party Web Analytics firms) but ususally they are somewhat useful...but most are just there so the site managers can tell who's visiting the site, often you do so, and what you are doing while you are there.

Strange thing is

I thought about the cookies and checked my security level and it said allow all cookies. So I guess this program has over written or something. Anyway I deleted the program and will see if things return to normal. Any help about the screen. I can't figure it out for the life of me. It may be a simple problem but its a pain in the neck.
