Bjork: Wearing her music on her sleeve
Bjork, now 39, counts as her first home the house across the Hudson from Manhattan which she shares with her partner, the acclaimed multimedia artist Matthew Barney...She avoids talking in specific terms about Barney, but ventures that she is writing the soundtrack for his next film, Drawing Restraint 9, to be premiered in June at the 21st-Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa. It is being shot in Japan and New York, and Bjork is researching forms of old Japanese music.
21st-Century Museum of Contemporary Art Site
The new production, Drawing Restraint 9, will integrate some Japanese cultural orientations of whaling and its tradition. Co-organized with Samsung Museum of Contemporary Art, Korea.

...Bjork and Barney play a couple preparing for a traditional Japanese wedding, who find themselves stranded on a whaling ship. After seeing the horrors of the whaling trade, they chop off their legs and mutate into whales.

Bjork is dark, eerie, and creepy.
She kinda reminds me of Shiina Ringo.

both not bad a cosplayer... I'd appreciate their live concert sunday night on the bridge.
and we could invite madonna as well. like two dancing apples and a virgin in the dark. maybe unesco could sponsor the world uniting cosplayer event. we still need african and australian support. But besides Josephine baker (became american and then french and is dead already) I can't imagin any african. cosplay is not so popular at natural folks...

this sounds so romantic! If I am grown up, I want to be like her! she tries to be a swan, a mammal, a whale, maybe I should try to be a deer! I could connect this ideologically to the holy nara deers, I don't even need the antlers...

Bjork upstages Harrison Ford with Vaseline and a whaling ship
Telegraph.co.uk - 2 Sept
... Bjork proved to be so outrageous at the Venice Film Festival yesterday that she upstaged an appearance by Harrison Ford holding the hand of Calista Flockhart.
The Hollywood stars, a romantic item for some years now, were in Italy for the unveiling of Fragile, a horror film featuring the former Ally McBeal actress.
However, they were virtually ignored by the paparazzi, while the Icelandic singer took the event by storm with her new movie, a 135-minute epic shot in Japan in which she stars with a vast vat filled with thousands of gallons of Vaseline.
As an over-the-top experimental picture, it even made Ang Lee's daring new movie Brokeback Mountain look tame, despite the appearance of Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhall as gay Wyoming cowboys.... no dialogue, but some soothing background sounds and songs - that the odd snore could ...

I actually quit both. One for the teeth (80% quit  ) and one for the health(100% quit :D ) because I need to take the PhD exam and new scholarship by storm! 8)

Drawing Restraint 9 follows Bjork's appearance in the cult director Lars von Trier's film Dancer In The Dark. But the new picture is far more weird.

she promised, no she swore she would never do a movie again after dancer in the dark. but maybe she just wasn't attracted by Lars. He did Elefant and she does Mammal...

Note: Artists are not lying, just winding around the truth!

Review: Breaking the waves
Creative Loafing - Creative Loafing Atlanta: Flicks
....Much of Barney's weirdness -- the freak creatures and situations that have made him a kind of extraterrestrial Busby Berkeley-meets-Leni Riefenstahl -- has often sprung from his own imagination.
But in Drawing Restraint 9 Barney's weirdness intermingles with Japan's cultural distinctiveness. The film is both a continuation of Barney's ideas, but in a way that is infinitely more restrained, meditative and culturally grounded. The elaborate tea ceremonies, dances, Shinto wedding rites and whaling industry Barney draws from only emphasize in a new way Barney's continuing, comprehensive fascination with ritual and culture and how elaborate rituals of dress, food, sex, sports and behavior define our lives. ...more...
