I, Robot getting closer

Postby Steve Bildermann » Wed Oct 27, 2004 4:58 am

Developed in the Humanoid Robotics Project at Kawada Industries, Japan. Several versions, operated with OpenHRP software. Comparable to the Honda robots in fluidity of motion, advanced navigation. It is nearly unique in having a flexible "hip" and lacking an external "backpack" Supposed to be stronger than other biped robots

An interesting point I just noticed is that this robot has clothing and styles.

"the HRP robot operates a backhoe while dressed in protective gear."

" HRP-2 in its "transformer" costume, lined up with other robots at Robodex 2003. ...The HRP is a large, powerful robot compared to others seen at Robodex."

Neon Genesis Evangelion and the Hardsuits from Bubblegum Crisis.

Speaking of BGC, when do we get around to building my sexaroid? I want my hot robot girlfriend NOW!

Humanoid robot for risky work unveiled
Japan Today - Friday, September 9, 2005 at 05:00 JST
Bridge builder Kawada Industries Inc and ttwo partners on Thursday unveiled a humanoid robot designed to take on work at construction sites and other risky places.
The HRP-3P robot demonstrated its functions at Kawada's plant in the town of Haga in Tochigi Prefecture, walking on an icy surface as well as walking under simulated heavy rainfall. The battery-powered robot, which is 160 centimeters tall and weighs 65 kilograms, carries out remote-controlled and preprogrammed work.

This PR pitch for a humanoid robot designed to take on work at construction sites and other risky places responds to Aristole...

Well, yeah, but what did Aristotle know? His Law of Non-Condradiction also states that, "It is impossible for the same attribute at once to belong and not to belong to the same thing and in the same relation." Which, of course, any self-respecting Dialectical Materialist will tell you is pure bullshit.

Actually on Weds, GomiGirl and I were discusssing over lunch who was more old-farty, gboothe or taro????
I contended that "neither" was the correct answer but there was no android to arbitrate.

That's because I had the android in a love hotel in Shibuya practicing beaming up and we both identified Taro as the the original old farty!
