OTSU ---A piranha was caught in Lake Biwa, a local fisheries experiment station said Tuesday.
This is the first time that the flesh-eating fish has been found in Lake Biwa since the Shiga Prefectural Government's fisheries experiment station began a survey on life in the lake in 1994.
A fisherman found the piranha in a net he placed in the lake about one kilometer from shore at Takashima, and alerted the station, which caught the fish on Monday.
