Career/Jobs in Japan/Asia

Postby muller » Fri Sep 09, 2005 1:21 am

Hi guys, two friends of mine developed a nice little Asia-related CareerSite.

On http://www.go-asia.org you can post or search job offers, list your resume or relax in the Afterwork Area.

Have a nice day!

Hi,

yep, there are no jobs yet, because the site is new. Hope they get some soon.

Free template or not, what counts is the content, right?

Exactly, but there are no bars or brothels listed in afterhours yet! Hope your friend gets on the ball, I've been 86'd out of all my usual haunts.

Yes, almost no content yet, but it's more to come soon, I hope. However, first the site needs some PR. If nobody knows the site, there will be no visitors. Without visitors no articles or jobs.

Everyone who wants to write about his favourite restaurant, bar, club etc is welcome to send his/her articles. Job offers are also welcome, of course. For those who haven't noticed: There's also an Asia-related Forum (Japan, China, South Korea, India).

C'mon, what about this forum here for example? Who is posting the most content/topics here? The users, right?

Go to the FG front page, look at the Top Posters list. bikkle, the site's operator, is #2. I bet he was the #1 poster during the first few years of the site's operation.

So go get busy and quit expecting people to do your job for you.

Oh, I beg to differ :!:

1. That site is not my site. It's made by two good friends of mine who are still students at the beginning of their 20s.

2. Get some posts on a stand alone forum like here (no offense, I like this site) or make a "real" website where job offers have to be posted, where articles have to be written, where resumes can be send to, where you can use a forum and this all for 4(!) countries simultaneously are two different things.

3. I've never said things like "Hey, that is the best site you've ever seen" etc. I've written about the possibilities you have on the site and just said: "Hey, have a look"

4. Sorry, if you don't have such good ideas (or skills) and can't get your ass up to do something like that site.

OK, so it's your friends' site, but...

Content is king, and there isn't any. If someone visits that site, how long do you think it will maintain their interest at present? Probably one click on each of the links. When they see there's nothing there to read or respond to they'll leave. It's like a restaurant trying to sell empty plates to diners.

The longer you spend on FG, the more you'll realise there's a wide depth and breadth of opinions and skills available to listen to and sometimes to learn from. That's why visitors/users keep coming back.

I havent had a compliment like that since last year nobel peace prize awards...

You could mail crack out to people for every 10 posts they submit: that'll keep em coming back with jobs and reviews... until all the posts revolve around the subject of crack, whether you have some, and if youd like your dick sucked for the price of cheeseburger...

The Mosburger site was a bit more appealing. But, you never know, different strokes for different folks.

OK, OK. I should have emphasised the 'sometimes'

Point is compare and contrast. There's nothing to read on that site Mulder linked to. At least here there's something to read...although maybe I overstated how useful a lot of it is.

Back to Beyond Fucked for more edutainment... or perhaps not... :?

Most what you guys saying is logical, but:

1. It was never the plan of my friends to make a super professional site and earn money with it like Metropolis e.g. They're students (like me), make it just for fun and hope that site could be a good help someday for people who are interested in Asia. And it got nothing to do that they wanna let other people work for them. They have to go to the university and study, they got student jobs and have to work and this site is just a hobby. I'm sure from time to time they will add some content, but like a lot of other sites, most content ( like the articles or the job offers) could be made by the users. My friends can't be in any restaurant or bar in Asia and they're also no headhuinters. They need the help of the site's visitors.

2. I've never complained about fuckegaijin. Quite the the contrary, I said that I like this site here.

3. Sorry, I don't like people like Charles, who come here, be offending and tell the people how crappy their site is. How frustated is that guy? Before he points his finger on other people and tell them what losers they are, he should make it better first.

I accept your offer. My last web content development job was $3500/month, 2 month contract. Email me for the address to send a check for $7000 and I'll begin work immediately upon receipt.

Oh, I'm far away from sending a guy like you just 1 cent. However, if you're such a genious website magician, 7000 bucks should be just peanuts for you, because someone like you got surely 10 or more sites like metropolis running, right?

Shit, I can do better than that. Mail me the check and I will begin the work as soon as my plane lands in the Bahamas.
