The Canon XL H1 High Def Camcorder

Canon has come out with a new 3CCD Camcorder. It captures in HDV, but outputs in up to 1080i. Not practical, but possible to shoot at very high resolutions.

The Canon XL H1 High Definition Camcorder is a professional 1080i HD camera truly designed for Professional Broadcast, ENG, Documentary or Reality TV production. For Independent Filmmaking, Canon has included extensive Cine controls and the ability to capture at 24 Frame shooting mode.

More here.
I still have my money on the Panasonic HVX-200. DVCPro 100 is the killer format in all cases with a 4:2:2 colorspace and 720P res. I also like the idea of a tapeless format.

Buraku, that's an HDV cam... Samsung doesn't make one IIRC.

Why is it ugly? Because of the shoulder mount? If you are a shooter, the shoulder mount is really nice and steadies your shots.

Besides, who cares what it looks like? This is a damn good camera, only a little short of the features that are to come out with the Panny HVX-100. CS is right, Samsung doesn't make anything close to this. Japan still rules the higher end camcorder market.

Panasonic is particularly aggressive and giving features up that is on their much higher priced camcorders: variable speed, 24P, HD resolutions, Tapeless formats, less moving parts, better audio - I could go on....

If Canon would have used that same color scheme for the XL1 they would have sold more.
