Koizumi's Yasukuni visits violate separation of politics and religion.

The court found that a constitutional violation had occurred but rejected a claim for emotional distress based on that violation. Although it's a change in attitude by the courts to consider that the PM's visits are unconstitutional, it is not a departure from the standard dogma of refusing to award damages to war victims. It looks like victims' groups are suing in various courts throughout Japan and are getting multiple verdicts declaring the Yasukuni visits unconstitutional. I wonder what will happen when this gets to the Supreme Court?

I guess one way for governments to get around pesky laws (like a constitution) is to make sure there is no way to enforce those laws.

(sometimes this works in citizens' favor too... like the law about paying NHK fees!)
