Ok, I'll bite.

Only an ozzie could win a prize for discovering the significance of a bacterium found in vomit. Undoubtedly some of this research was conducted lying face down in a gutter in a puddle of vomit.

No, Charlie is an entirely different strain of bacteria.

One for which no known purpose has yet been found.

Given that many may complain of similar effects from exposure to both strains, I can see how you could get the two confused.

Didn't you get a prescription for antibiotics and bismuth, like the Nobel discovery prescribes? If not, you need a better doctor.

It sounds like your doctor isn't fully clued in to the pylobacter story if he's telling you the ulcer is caused by stress. I don't presume to know how your active ulcer would affect treatment, but the Nobel story seems to indicate the antibiotic is only effective combined with Bismuth (i.e. Pepto Bismol). If it were me, I'd be checking into that, it's pretty much common knowledge now in any society with advanced medical care (which pretty much leaves out Japan).

And in other news, University of Melbourne students are attempting to win the Nobel Prize for Beer.
