Where is the best place to get a gas cook stove? Are they hard to install? New apartment doesn't have one.

Are you talking about a real 4+ burner stove with an oven and not Stoneage gas table?

I buy those crappy gas table things at LLOX. They're cheap, and easy to install by yourself. I'm planning to ship in a real stove with an oven in a few months (that's tricky because the BTU rating of gas to be burned has to be correct and the gas fittings will may need adaptors.)

only room for a small unit. Would love an oven but it is a rental and only enough space for the standard type.

These aren't overly expensive usually. Any home centre will have a fair selection, as will shops like Daiei. Unless your setup is unusual (not likely really) hookup will mean connecting a hose to the gas outlet and then to the stove-top. You might have to put in a battery too, depending on the model you choose.

(Make sure you buy a short length of hose too, I doubt the stove will come with one...)
And you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death
