Sapp vs Hoost

Not a technically pretty fight but that's what makes it all the more interesting. It's like watching a rhino battle a leopard on speed.
Mr Kobayashi: First, I experienced a sort of overpowering feeling whenever I was in the room with foreigners, not to mention a powerful body odor coming from them. I don't know whether it was a sweat from the heat or a cold sweat, but I remember I was sweating whenever they were around.

When it comes to rhinos and the beast, one quickly learns which side of the fence to be on when making friends!

Well, it was kinda of a cheap love hotel. Small screens. We did manage to get in a few PR shots. Hey, with a guy whose arm is as big as your leg, you don't argue. Besides Ichigo Party girl was hiding. So what the heck!

Three questions:
how did Sapp land those punches?
how did Hoost not see those punches?
why does K1 continue to employ the world's most biased referee?

Kakuda: fucking up your martial arts entertainment for 20 years.

All of this is a loooong time ago, but the ref still calls breaks and matches according to a schedule we never get to see.

Nah, it's not that complicated. They just let the ref read the script before the match.

The real reason is that K-1 is no longer "real" fighting and it's becoming a staged entertainment like puro-resu. They have those cheesy intros like they do in wwf with music and the bigscreen in the back when the "fighters" enter the ring.

You're right about puro-resu Tommy, but you have to consider one thing. As someone who gets involved in promotional events I (and I'm not alone in this) really have to admire their success.

They have a product that almost every living thing (except for a few ding-a-lings) knows to be a fake. Fixed. Operated by a script! Yet, they create superstars, sell millions in souveniers and fan items, fill stadiums to a capacity that many, many pro sports envy and they do it with things like these "cheesy intros" and other special effects (as well as a tremendous PR effort). It's quite an admirable operation from an event management point of view.

So, you have to be careful how you mean "staged entertainment"! Even if it is, they do it right and leave a lot of us industry wannabe's in the dust!
