Japan's 5 TV Stations to Start Webcast With DentsuRedorbit (Jiji Press) Nov. 26, 2005,Tokyo----Japan's five major television networks, including Tokyo Broadcasting System Inc. , plan to team up with advertising giant Dentsu Inc. to distribute their programs over the Internet from next spring,..
...Dentsu to arrange ads for TV programs and to set up a new company to distribute the programs free of charge, the sources said. The five TV stations will provide the new company with programs for the Webcast. I thought the original idea was to broadcast through your handheld phones. Maybe it's already being implemented and I have been out of the whole cutting edge technology loophole but I saw the demonstration some time around this time last year.

Even though it's FREE, expect a whole shitload of annoying push advertisements.. of course, it's a matter of time before someone comes up with the no-advertisement hack.. :lol:

It seems that they will be rebroadcasting reruns --meh-- and the "free" has not been decided yet.

Dentsu Inc, Japan's top advertising agency, said Monday it has launched studies with five Tokyo-based commercial TV broadcasters on jointly establishing a company for webcasting reruns of TV programs.
