Well, DJ Smegma's 'Misauge' as a turntable whore in Tokyo was a success in the sense that I didn't fuck up spectacularly. I wish there were more people there but the opening spot is the opening spot for a reason.

I'll keep you guys posted on when my next gig will be!

DJ Smegma out!

Trance, house, techno, progressive variations of all of the above.

The funny thing is that I did a whole set with records I found in the booth. (Lots of neat stuff to choose from.) Since the Pipers Lounge is mostly hiphop and reggae, I kept the electronica to 30 minutes before shifting to Snoop Dogg and the likes. (Found a really cool remix of Eminem's "The way I am".)

Hey there,

I remember that. Actually this is my second trip to Japan since then. (Was in Hokkaido teaching the last time.) If you ever need anyone for gigs, I'm definately around. (Whoring my gigs on FG of course...)

Very cool. I've been to Piper's. It has a pretty cool vibe, but since it's a bit off the beaten path in Roppongi, it doesn't get as much patronage as 911. I'm sure it's still a great place to get some experience and reach an audience.

I no longer live in Japan, but if someone asks me for recommendations, I'll put your name on the list.

Piper's Lounge has a very laid back vibe compared to some of the clubs and parties I've played in the past. My style of music didn't mesh with it all that well as I played my style of records early on, (trance, house, etc,) only to get into some hard funk/hip hop for the second half. I chalked it up to "practice session with free drinks and pay".

Thanks for the support! I really appreciate it. The scene is really cool in Tokyo and I'm having fun being there!
