where to get extra-warm winter gloves in Japan?

Postby ninjin » Sun Dec 04, 2005 2:41 pm

I'm in Southern Japan and I'm looking for extra warm winter gloves to use while I'm bicycling at high speeds, or anywhere outdoors, or even in my cold apato. I've gone to nearby stores, but the gloves they sell are not warm enough for me.

I'm looking for not-so-expensive gloves in the XL size (25.5 cm or 10.5 inches). I'm looking for stores that can ship to Kyushu for a minimal fee. Do you know of any stores?

Thank you for your information!

If you're looking for quality cheap, then I would hit up Uniqlo. I don't know if they have Uniqlo down there though. Good luck.

uniqlo won't work

Postby ninjin » Sun Dec 04, 2005 5:14 pm

Tommy,
There is a uniqlo in my area. I took a look at Uniqlo's online page for gloves, and there are 2 reasons why uniqlo won't work:
1. They don't have my size.
2. They're not warm enough. They look as warm as the gloves I saw in the department store.

I'd try a ski shop. If there aren't any ski shops around then a large general sporting goods shop would likely have ski stuff...

Another idea... The Mountain Equipment Co-op. They're a Canadian outfit and have awesome stuff. They ship overseas too.

If you can manage Japanese ok, Yahoo Auctions is your friend..

Or there's LLBean - http://www.llbean.co.jp

This is a link to their glove section.

You could always get those heat inserts... they look like oversized nicotine patches... they sell them at any local pharmacy.
