Well, no. People take the time to read what I have to say when I write to them. It's called business. Kanji has nothing to do with it. If you lived here you would know.
Mr Kobayashi: First, I experienced a sort of overpowering feeling whenever I was in the room with foreigners, not to mention a powerful body odor coming from them. I don't know whether it was a sweat from the heat or a cold sweat, but I remember I was sweating whenever they were around.

Sorry, but I have to agree with Charles on this.

I live and work in Japan. If people can't understand what you write, they move on. I know this from experience, both in writing English and in writing Japanese. If someone has to take time to decipher what I have written (even though it is important they do so) they often don't bother. Human nature, and I doubt it is much different between Japan and any other country.

This is such a fun thread, I can't wait until it springs up from the dead again next November or so... 8O



I gotta say thought I disagree with the "gripes" about the test though, I think thay are valid. Language is culture and content. If you know it then you know it and unless they seriously go out of their way to be complicated and semantic all that sneaky shit is part of the test. Of course you feel cheated on those things at first but when you pass you will come around to the other side. Speaking of which this is most awkward in that I have agreed with Chucky-boy on something (you did it too lurker!) I feel so... ashamed :oops:
