World's most expensive Hello Kitty doll, priced at 10 million yen (91,900 USD), is displayed at Mitsukoshi department store as part of a celebration to mark Hello Kitty's 30th birthday ...the platinum made Hello Kitty, 41mm tall and weighing 75g, wears a cloak studded with 205 pieces 4.1 ct and a mace with 0.753 ct pink colored diamond.

Daily Sports reports that a bloke from Fukui city bought the pendant above at Mitsukoshi department store early Tuesday morning. Actually, 10:10am according to another report. He paid 5,775,000 yen for it. On a base of diamonds, the ribbon is made of rubies and the nose is sapphire. The eyes are onyx. Brittany Spears did the promotional video for it which, given her scale of charges, surely makes this a loss leader for Sanrio. Not that they need more of those.

The guy bought it for his daughter. He paid cash.
