Fraud On the Twilight Express

The Asahi (Japanese) reports that JR West has uncovered a crime on its Twilight Express overnight service between Osaka and Sapporo. At the instigation of the chief purser, crew have been diverting a portion of the money charged for serving coffee in the dining car into their own pockets. Whodunnit? The company estimates that all of the crew - over 100 current and former employees - are implicated. With each member receiving around 36,000 annually the fraud probably totals 14 million yen since 1993.

question...

Postby etto_neh » Fri Dec 16, 2005 12:08 pm

I ran across a nice book that had pics of some these trains... fancy looking sleeper-cars and dining facilities... Anyone ever taken one outta/into Osaka?

It appears to be a comfy way to see the countryside.
