need help with DVD player on PC

need help with DVD player on PC

If anyone could help, my problem is this....

I use to be able to put a dvd into my pc and it would play automatically with any program eg...windows media, real player etc but now it simply doesnt play no matter what i do....... any ideas ??

what operating system? I'm assuming windows.
the link above is probably it, but it might be a region problem.
does it play when you open media player and then tell it to play
the DVD? Was this in your home country and then you moved to Japan?
You need codecs for each region so you might be better downloading something like VLC which can just play anything regardless I beleive.

It has nothing to do with codecs if you're talking about region protection.
