I've stumbled across the photograph above again here. The short blurb explains that the group is mostly German members of the medical faculty at Meiji University. The site has a number of pictures; some of which have already popped up here and here.

The late Andre the Giant, pro-wrestler and actor in films such as The Princess Bride. He was on same bill when Muhammad Ali fought Antonio Inoki and this picture is probably from that time. The one below, with Hulk Hogan, was taken in Tokyo in the 80's.
