Ok have a date lined up this weekend and was wondering if anyone knew of any cool places to go on a date and any good advice about dating Japanese girls?

I agree, though, bars are just totally out of the question when it comes to dates. Try going for a walk and leading her to a nice (empty!) park planned out earlier. Doing romantic stuff like that and saying "Oh, what a coincidence!" when it was planned and cheesy things has nothing but good results with J-girls.

I suggest a compromise. Do something fun first. Ask her what she likes to do. Then go to the bar.

If she herself suggested going to a bar then it might be because she feels relaxed there so I wouldn't rule it out as an option. Then again, if you are meeting her at, say, 10:00 am then you probably should ask yourself how much you know about the girl.

Then again, a bar in the states is a quite different from bars in the U.K. and Japan.

We have izakaya like pubs that are not called bars or pubs, but are called by the name of the business.

Going to an izakaya is not a bad PART of a date. Going to a Japanese bar before or after dancing is an idea as well.

BTW, Misrepresenting oneself in order to get laid is foul IMO.

Going to the beach is also nice too. Walking along a cold beach in the winter with your arm around her is interesting. But then this was northern Japan and our beaches are easy to get to.
