Nobody is on this level. Those kanji are specifically for the "stump the japanese" type situations so they can look at you and go "ohhhhhhhhhhhh, sugoi desune".

Doesn't that annoy you!? I always spend so much time looking up interesting, archaic words and using them in sentences...but it always backfires -- they just think I'm messing up words and know even less than I do. And then it takes another five minutes to explain to THEM what I was saying. Some of my most disgruntled moments ever.

Well, their response is hardly surprising. I react that way when non-native English speakers try to use some archaic, hardly used word or phrase they found in their dictionary. The very usage of such terms indicates they know little about the English language because a fluent speaker would know those words aren't appropriate for daily conversation.

I like the word 輾転反側（てんてんはんそく）.

But apparently, to "jactitate" just means to "roll over".
It doesn't mean what you potty minded fg's were thinking.
