YIKES! In the past week I've heard Russian coming out of my car radio which is set to Eagle 810 of AFN.
It is supposed to be broadcasting from Yokota Air Base on the 810 kHz AM band at 50,000 watts. But noooooo...but the Eagle 810 has more downtime than a 20 watt college radio station in the States run by hangover students.
From what russian I can understand, I've been receiving Soviet Supreme's People's Commissariat broadcasting from Primorskii Krai, the region of Siberia that includes the port city of Vladivostok. The communication pros at AFN say they should be back on the air with a new antenna soon. According to the amateur radio geeks who do AM radio DXing (listening for distant AM radio stations) this is going to be a, " Good chance for DXers in the area for receiving Russian Primorskii Kraii and Korean stations on the same frequency!"
Oh gr-r-reat---now I can listen to a duet by Lil' Kim and Soviet Supreme on the Russian Eagle 810(tm).
