Replacing a lost keitai (AU/Sakuraya contract)

So I lost my keitai after a yaar or so. Do you know what the deal is with replacement phones, I got the phone at Sakuraya, as far as I know I don't have any insurrance.

I would rather avoid having to buy a new phone because AU have some nice phones coming out next month, so I'd like to buy one of those using the annual discount I get from them. Obv. I don,t want to be without a phone whilst I wait for these new ones to come out.

In the mean time can I either:
-Get a replacement loan phone for a few weeks
-Bring someone else's unused keitai and get my number transfered to it?

I don't have any experience with AU, but when I lost my Vodafone, I was given a loaner phone and then charged an obscene amount of money to get a newer model with the same number.

I later broke that phone and decided to switch to DoCoMo rather then go though that scenrio again. It was actually cheaper for me to get the new Foma D902i then it would have been for me to replace my Vodafone..

Based on my three year experience with voda back in England that's hardly surprising, they are utter cunts.

You know as months go buy you can get a new phone at a discounted price, so I'm hoping to use that offer on one of the newer phones.

Good news is I'm going to the AU shop in shibuya this evening with a friend to see if they will transfer my number to her infobar. If that works, then hopfully I can just buy an upgrade wiht the afforemetioned discount when the new +-0 phone is released.

All worked out fine and took about ten minutes. I went to the AU shop and just had to sign a form and pay them an extra 2200 on my next bill.
