Looking for a DJ Equipment Store in Tokyo/General DJ Equipment Discussion

Postby CheapyD » Wed Feb 08, 2006 6:37 pm

Besides Yodobashi/Bic, can someone recommend a store with a decent DJ equipment selection?

I've been to Music Vox in Akihabara and some other spot on the second floor of a nice building in Shibuya (below a horse racing joint).

Any suggestions?

I'm in the market for a mixer and (CD, most likely) deck (I only brought 1 1200 with me).

Shimamura is another place to check.

Did you bring your 1200 with you? They are so cheap in Japan, I'm just going to auction mine off on ebay, and buy new ones when I get to Japan.

I think Shimamura is the place i found in Shibuya that I mentioned.
They had used stuff for sale too, but nothing great.

Yeah, I brought 1 1200 with me and left 1 at home (with the intention of buying a CD deck here).

BTW, I haven't noticed 1200s being any cheaper here than in the USA (not sure where you are from).

I'm not sure what country you are from, but CD decks are much more expensive in Japan than they are in the U.S.

I would check out Yahoo Japan's auction site and see if you can find any good deals. You may need a native speaker to help with the transaction though.

If you're going stateside any time soon, I may be best to just wait, and bring one back in your suitcase.

Llaox has a music-kan in Akihabara that has a wide selection of mixers and other DJ equipment. I bought a Vestax 3-channel mixer there a couple of years ago. The prices are the same in Japan as in the US.

I believe this is the one you are looking for...it is the red box on the map

here's a picture of it from the street (or at least how it looked about 14 months ago)

I might consider selling my decks (or one) as I dont use them much anymore.

Also the best store I've found is the DJ equipment store that is in Shibuya- from the station go past Tokyu Hands, cross the street and keep on going. There's a bike/bicycle parking lot and then a street going up a hill. Go up there and it's on teh right.

Hey CheapyD, I wish I could sell you all the equipment I have. It's in great condition, hardly used and all-professional. Vestax mixer, twin Pioneer CDJ players, Alesis monitor speakers, etc. Problem is that shipping it all to Japan would be really expensive.

Here's a link to a map showing where the audio-kan is located. Hope you can read Japanese. Basically, you exit from the south side of Akihabara station and hang a left.

Ah, actually I have been to Music Vox. It looks different now and I think they dropped the LLaox name. gkanai, I will check out the shibuya spot.

I'm actually looking for a CD deck (either Numark CDX or Denon 3500 and a 3-4 channel mixer.

Thanks guys, much appreciated!

Hah, I totally found it yesterday. It's a tiny store, but they have so much stuff crammed in there. Thanks!
