I was at a riot today

I was waiting at a busstop in dublin today with about 40 other people en route home after a night out and trip back to a ladies apartment.. and then 200-300 'scumbags' come around a corner chanting something about the IRA (they were saying that what todays riot was about - but it mostly just random violence, looting etc just for the sake of it) then they came charging down the street and everybody at the bus-stop freaked out and ran in the opposite direction.

My curiosity almost got the better of me:
after watching the riot police clear streets for about an hour I almost got taken out of it by a police baton charge - I was just standing there bewildered - and then I noticed a cop was running at me with his club in the air.

Hundreds of republican demonstrators clashed with riot police in central Dublin today in a bid to block a parade by the Orange Order and victims of IRA violence.
About a dozen fireworks, metal barricades, bottles and stones were thrown at Gardai as loyalist marchers gathered 100 yards away....
A line of about 40 riot police blocked the entrance to O'Connell Street as hundreds of youths pelted them with rocks, bottles and sticks...
Rubble and barricades from construction work on O'Connell Street were set on fire as riot police forced the crowd further into the city centre....
At the front of the GPO, the headquarters of the 1916 Easter Rising, rioters charged police and fought hand-to-hand battles with around 100 officers.....

Looks like the riot worked: it cancelled the parade of those fucking orangemen! Give that shit up already. It's about as cool as white americans parading infront of the indian reservations in celebration.

But they are just escorting the local uyoku (as can be seen in the last photo). I don't think they were doing anything more than directing traffic.

Have any of you ever witnessed a Japanese riot? About seven years ago here a bozo was killed in a police chase and about 200 of his friends started attacking the cops in front of the main police headquarters. Interesting viewing ...from a distance.
