Team USA's road to the second round of the World Baseball Classic just got a little rougher.
Despite a spirited comeback from an eight-run deficit, the Americans bowed in shocking style to Team Canada, 8-6, on Wednesday, in a crucial first-round World Baseball Classic game at Chase Field. ..

That's lame.. They're out of the tournament with a 2-1 record? Lame!.. Again; each opponent should be a 3-game series..dimwit wrote:The day after beating the US at baseball, Canada got pasted by Mexico almost assuring that the US will advance to the second round.
.."I know some of their names from when I played against them before," Peavy said. "I know what I am up against, and I know they are good players."
Peavy, Alex Rodriguez and Team USA manager Buck Martinez all spoke of Japan's solid fundamentals, and reiterated that the Japanese players wouldn't do anything to beat themselves.
Instead, Japan needs to focus on ways to win some games. Going back to the Korea game, Japan has now lost three of its last four...
I'll be home at that time.. Workin' the late, late shift tomorrow.Mulboyne wrote:Are you pulling a sickie or trying to sneak a look when you're at work?

This whole WBC is a frickin joke now.
I guarrantee you that they've just lost a whole bunch of Japanese viewers because of this.
And it wasn't just a 'bad call'.. The ump made the right call at first; sac-fly to shallow left - runner comes home on a ball thrown way off line - run scores.. Then, manager for Cream USA starts yelling, whining, and bitching about the runner leaving before the ball was caught; Ump cowers, starts sucking some hometown, patriotic dick - Reverses the call; runner out at home, third out, end of inning. Replays prove the runner didn't leave before the ball was caught.IkemenTommy wrote:Team Nippon got robbed.
Um, maybe it's time to go in for another driving eye exam.. ]When you lose, it is always the umpire's fault. The powerhouses are still playing.[/QUOTE]That call was the umpires fault; he made the right call first.. Then cowered to a manager yelling it was 'the umpires fault'.. Remember, the call was reversed.gboothe wrote:You couldn't tell from that type of video whether the runner left early or not!

It didn't seem Nishioka left early on the television replay

gboothe wrote:Maybe. What happened during the other eight innings? It's still 4-3 and would have been more than that in the ninth without the sayonnara. Japan made a couple of great plays in key situations to stay in the game, otherwise it might have been a blowout! Even given the bad call, they were still out hit and out scored. The play just gives the J-announcers something more to talk about. They're not out of it, but they still have to play Korea and Mexico. If Korea beats them again, it maybe a good chance to blame it on their non-Japanese manager!
