I knew you would catch this story. I've been following it too. Luckily, I keep my cat indoors at all times, so he shouldn't be at risk.

That is Brilliant!!!!

That would mess with my TuTu's head and send her completely over the edge. As it is, she has this weird sort of strangled growl/meow whenever she sees a bird on the roof next door through the window.. She wouldn't know what to do if she caught one, but she would like to give it a shot I am sure. But alas, I do not let my Japanese fighting cat outdoors... (except when she escapes into the neighbours or worse locks me out of my own house - this has happened!!!)

Cat eats bird and gets bird flu.
Dog eats cat shiat and gets bird flu (maybe cat flu??).
A certain unidentified restaurant grinds dog into hamburger and everyone gets bird-cat-dog flu and maybe hepatitus from the illegal immigrant dishwasher...

My cat killed a dove today, he's just got back from the vet after coming off much the worse in an altercation with a Squirrel.

Also, he is 3 pounds overweight and only ever goes outside to kill something.

Those of the facts of my cat

Rob Cordry had a funny skit on the Daily Show about Avian Flu:

It's advised that if you get Avian Flu, you should give it back to a bird. Give it back sooo good.

Bird-flu Cats Reject Virus
http://www.news24.com/News24/World/Bird_flu/0,,2-10-1959_1893288,00.html
Three cats were at one point carriers of the H5N1 bird flu virus in the southern Austrian province of Styria, but two of them have since rejected the virus, says a health official.

The potentially deadly H5N1 virus was found in samples taken on February 22 by mouth swab from three cats in an animal shelter near the town of Graz, Oskar Wawschinek, spokesperson for the Austrian health and food safety organisation (AGES) told AFP.

But subsequent tests showed two of the cats no longer carried the virus.

"Nothing remained, nothing developed, they did not become ill" he said, explaining the cats had fought off the virus as humans can fight off a cold virus to avoid becoming sick.
Wouldn't this be good news? Cats may be the key for a vaccine?

However, for a few days, all three cats were carriers of the H5N1 virus and could have transmitted it to other animals, Wawschinek said.
:eek2: Doh! Maybe this is bad news..

Pussy is so confusing..

Maybe I'm being foolish, but I'm really not that worried about catching bird flu. Yea, it'll suck if I do get it and worse comes to worse, I die coughing my lungs out. But! There are much worse things.... like Ebola which has a 90 percent mortality rate from the victim dying from internal hemmorhaging, their organs essentially liquifiying and them bleeding from all over their body.
Compared to that, bird flu isn't shit.
