JAXA finds Explosion proof Rocket launch Method

Postby Greji » Fri Mar 31, 2006 2:19 pm

JAXA finally found a way to launch a rocket that didn't explode. They commissioned the Aussies to do it! Sorry Charles!

As a part of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency's development project for a new supersonic aircraft, they had two rocket launched tests of the new scramjet engine conducted for them in Australia.

".... The so-called Supersonic Combustion Ramjet - or scramjet - engine was designed to travel at speeds of up to 5,000 mph, or 10 times the speed of conventional aircraft, the University of Queensland said in a statement.
"The rocket launch looked as expected. We had another clean liftoff," Prof. Michael Smart said.
Thursday's launch was the second test flight in less than a week, and was intended to generate data about flight performance of a 220-pound scramjet engine with an advanced fuel injector developed by JAXA.
The data will be compared with results of ground tests performed in Japan, the statement said.
The university said it would make an announcement about the results of the experimental flights in the coming weeks.
The U.S. has already carried out a flight test with a scramjet engine, while the European Union, Japan, China, Russia and India are in different stages of testing their technologies...." Entire Article here....

The article conveniently omitted the part about how the scramjet was designed to crash land, so I guess it would be a success no matter what happened. Even ozzies can hit the ground with a jet.

Scramjet is an acronym for Supersonic Combustion Ramjet. The scramjet differs from the ramjet in that combustion takes place at supersonic air velocities through the engine. It is mechanically simple, but vastly more complex aerodynamically than a jet engine. Hydrogen is normally the fuel used.

As I recall Evil Knievil tried to jump the Snake River Canyon on a 'motorcycle' powered by an engine that ran on steam. It was basically a controlled crash and he lived to collect the rewards.

Sounds like a typical FG to me.

;)
Stay on the bomb run boys. I'm goin' to get them doors open if it hare lips everybody on Bear Creek.

The pointy-hat nutbags from the newmars society explain one this perfectly ( science freaks that believe Bush is going to Mars ) these planes are a lot weaker than Japan's old rockets

To quote the board :
they only thing the plane can be used for is 'hypersonic missiles' to hit PearlHarbor/California....*ahem*...*cough*...err Sorry I mean to strike those fucking Korean bastards !
