the idea for Orange Day was hit upon by a group of citrus fruit growers in Ehime Prefecture...

I guess you expect a response with a remark like that. I doubt 99% percent of the population of Ehime has ever heard of Orange Day and my guess is that it is something they use to try to draw in tourists. Things orange are ubiquitous here only to be rivalled by things having to do with Bocchan,
hence we have the Ehime Mandarin Pirates who play in Bocchan Statium. Personally, I've always thought that the Ehime Orange Peril would be a far cooler name for a team but they never asked me.:)

Ubiquitous oranges of Ehime... my skin has turned orange by now eating them, gack! Even my orange growing Ehime inlaws haven't heard of Orange Day but it does get some press in Holland.

Yeah, just what Japan needs....more days on which to give obligatory gifts.
And you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death
