Golden Week is a good time to visit Tokyo and Yokohama because the cities are half empty.
I plan to run around and take photos and video of old buildings without having to deal with lots of people.

Stay in Tokyo and chat up the girls that have stayed behind. If you venture anywhere near resort or tourist areas outside of Tokyo you'll regret it. Too crowded.

Get yourself a few girls, enjoy.

Nice onsens and stuff in Nikko or Nasu in Tochigi...not far from Tokyo.

If you stay over, let me know. Can hook you up with decent places to stay and stuff.

Oooh! BTW - met a J guy from Utsunomiya at work this morning (where I used to live) and dang, if he didn't live in the same neighbourhood that I did....Cripey, small world or what?

Er, sorry...

Anyway, that's my suggestion..

I've given up with trying to have a relaxing vaccation here. Everyone tries to do the same shit at the same time and you'll end up getting stuck in massive traffic. Holidays are hellish. I'm just staying home in Tokyo and chilling. If you really want to go somewhere, do it on a weekday. I've given up. Less people around New Years and GW when all of them go to their inakas is nice though!

Guess im a little late to reply but Tama river is pretty cool for a 1 day trip so still time for Sunday. Nice nature thing if u are into that kind of thing. From JR Shinjuku station you can take the chuo line rapid or special rapid train bound for Takao or Hachioji stations and get off at Hachioji. where you transfer to the Hachiko line. then get off at Komiya station.

Went to Miyajima, saw deers knocking over garbage cans to get at the contents, and watched a trained seal show at the aquarium which remained me a little too much of some of my college students.
