Newgrounds.com is not "ignorant" as much as young, and hell we've all been guilty of that.
The thread in question, "Japanese Culture Scares Me", is something any FG has thought about from time to time. Hell, I'll admit to sitting in the balcony and giggling all though Kakubi at age 13---it's damn weirder than Monty Python.
Actually threads like this are great if you're 12.
