When J-folk ask you about the Da Vinci Code, you tell them....

it is true and you are one of the true descendents of Christ

ARRRGH! For what seems like only about the 100th time I have had another student ask me about the Da Vinci Code and I have run out of fun responses. How about the rest of you? Have you been accosted by Japanese and asked to explain it. And if so what have you told them?

I tell 'em the movie is all true and that Christianity is just a cult that made it big through murder and deceit.

We need more options... Like:

It's basically as provable as the rest of the books of the Bible.

or

No one knows because historically anything that didn't agree with what bigwig Christians thought was systematically and violently destroyed.

or

It's all fiction, like the rest of the Bible.

or

Flip a coin.

or

I really wasn't trying to ellict anyones views on Christianity, I more interested in strategies for getting hamsters to stop pestering me about the subject.:)

I agree I should have added another option in the poll such as 5 it is unprovable but I don't think I can change the poll once it was been sumbitted.:(

The most plausable part of the story, that Jesus married & had a kid/kids, seems to be the part that gets all the sky-pilots all up in arms. The more fantastical parts, like the Priory of Scion bit, Leo & the cryptex, the roseline and so on, don't really raise many eyebrows.

Many are overlooking the most important fact of all, that buddy Hesus was a FG too! All those years in Egypt...

Wow! Are your hamsters actually interested about a novel?
In the mid 80s an Irish FG forced me to read "Holy Blood, Holy Grail" (Baigent, Leigh, and Lincoln, 1983). It was an amusing enough book---kind of long and totally irrelevant except for Xians interested in Pope theater.

My hamster strategy is to put on my best demented smile and say, "that drooling old fart ain't my fucking Pope...all God's childrens are da Pope! We'd all be Jesus!" Then I go into my raving street preacher routine, start foaming at the mouth and speaking in tongues: Oh, oozums own wootsy squidlums!

(Actually, it's too bad the Da Vinci Code is only a work of speculative fiction.:devil2: )

Sorry, I missed the last supper because
-I was drunk.
-with your missus/mum.
-in the kitchen.

I can't read.

My psychiatrist says that we shouldn't talk about that part of my life.

sssh.. Don't talk too loud, they are everywhere you know!!!

When I traced my family tree, all I found was pimps and prositutes, so I guess I worked for the vatican..

This is just another media hype created by the vatican to move media interest away from organised crime and child sexual abuse.

I know nothing of Cricket!!

Or my favourite answer to anything I don't want to answer or couldn't care about

It's a conspiracy...

[floatr]Image[/floatr]Indian Catholic: In Japan Bishop Of Fukuoka Dies Days Before His Jubilee Celebration
Bishop Hisajiro Matsunaga, who led Fukuoka diocese for 15 years, died of a cerebral hemorrhage early in the morning of June 2 at his residence in Fukuoka. He was 76 years old. Father Soichi Kawakami, who will serve as administrator of the southern diocese until the appointment of a new bishop, told UCA News over the phone: "It was a shock. A day of joy has turned into a day of sorrow." The priest was referring to celebrations planned for June 4 to celebrate what would have been the 50th anniversary of the bishop's ordination to the priesthood. According to Father Kawakami, Bishop Matsunaga had recently joked, "I won't be around much longer." The priest said his reply was, "Don't go while you're still in office"...more...
