US Battles Black Widow Spiders At Iwakuni

Postby Mulboyne » Thu Jun 15, 2006 12:25 am

[floatr]Image[/floatr]Stars and Stripes: At Iwakuni, 18,000 black widow spiders have been caught in last six years
All base officials know is that the creatures appeared six years ago and aren't native to Japan. The black widow spider, infamous for its male-eating female and mild toxicity, has become a nagging problem at Iwakuni - more for the alarm it has created than a serious threat, officials say. More than 18,000 have been caught so far, although the numbers have dropped dramatically as the base instituted a spider-catching program...Last year, the government of Japan erected a low Plexiglas fence around part of the base to contain the spiders...more...

Yikes! And to think of the number of times I have taken my son to the airshow there. I realize that a black widow bite would probably not be deadly...still.

Black Widows are awesome spiders. We used to keep one in a terrarium at our university party house. She could kick anything's ass; killed and ate scorpians, hornets, yellow jackets.. Great party show; she made me a lot of money.. Until she came up against another Widow. :(

They're really beautiful; big bulbous ass, long slender legs, shiny black skin, and a red hour-glass tattoo on the belly.

Gross.
I used to live with bunch of Chinese during my freshman year in college and one of them had a sick and twisted "hobby" by having one as a pet. Imagine if that thing escaped :ninja2:

Release the White Snake

Postby mr. sparkle » Sat Jun 17, 2006 3:15 am

They should just release the infamous Iwankuni White Snake on those bitches.

Me 'n Rob Pongi went to Iwakuni once and did a short video on the subject. I hope he releases it some day. I think it's called something like, "Rob Pongi's Big White Snake" or some such.

Even cooler was the Kintai Bridge which has a bunch of trap doors to ward off attackers of the castle.
