Going back to study somewhere in Japan

Postby Nice Guy Jin » Sat Jun 17, 2006 1:58 am

I'm scared to death. I'm going back to Japan in a week and sent to study in Fukui, a place I might've heard of like twice in my life, and I'll be living there with a Japanese family.

All right, I do expect people to be a bit different from Tokyo, but all I know is that it looks very rural. Not a single word of English, I guess, and lots of disgusting raw fish for breakfast...

It is going to suck, right?

I mean, I know nothing about this place in particular, well, except that Fukui "produces 98% of the glass frames produced in Japan"...:bounce:

Definitely going to suck

Nah breakfast fish is usually grilled skanky salmon.. cold and dried out.. now natto however... yummm with a raw egg, soy sauce, seaweed sheet and rice with a touch of mustard.. miso soup on the side. Sets you up all day.. all low G.I. and low fat. Very good for you.

Well Will Ferguson didn't have a lot nice to say about the place but it is on the Sea of Japan side and I have heard the countryside is quite pretty up there.

BTW when I googled for images of Fukui I came up with A and B.

I'd like to order B with nothing on it to go. I have to catch a train to Fukui!
