Asteroid misses Japan -- Godzilla not credited

Postby Taro Toporific » Tue Jul 04, 2006 12:01 am

Large asteroid will miss Earth today
July 3 (UPI) -- An asteroid with the power to wipe out a small country will miss the Earth ... Asteroid 2004 XP14 is nearly half a mile wide and was discovered in December 2004. It is in the "Apollo" class of asteroids, which are those that cross orbits with Earth...more...

TOM: Please God, make that asteroid hit Godzilla and spare us all!

When the asteroid passes Earth, it will be some 268,624 miles away, just slightly further away than the average distance of the Moon from Earth, the report said . . .

It's claimed that XP14 won't threaten Earth for at least a century, at least not directly. But what if it hits or molests the moon in the meantime . . .

It could be a belated Space 1999 situation.

There was a Japanese actress in Space 1999, Yasuko Nagazumi, who was also an uncredited "bath girl" in You Only Live Twice. Why do I know this pointless trivia? Because she married a Hungarian journalist with whom she had a girl who they called Miki. Miki Berenyi went on to front the UK Britpop band Lush.

More senselessness...from Wikipedia:
Miki Berenyi (born on March 18, 1967) is a singer from south London, UK. She was formerly the lead singer of Lush.

I read once that her mother was pregnant with Miki while she was acting in the movie. Given that the film was released in 1967 this could be possible.
