J Music Podcast & Free Download Site

Postby Mulboyne » Tue Jul 04, 2006 7:37 pm

There are quite a few sites for Japanese net radio but 247 Music (Japanese only), which opened last December is interesting. They have just extended their free music download site to include mobile phone downloads. The site has a lot of newer or unsigned artists and the downloads are all legal. The site also has net radio and mixtapes. It isn't fantastically popular (although it claims 3,000,000 page views over six months) but it has caught the attention of music business types.

Celebrity Kaori Manabe appears as podcasting judge
Mainichi
Celebrity Kaori Manabe, who has earned a name for herself as a "blog queen," appeared at an Apple Computer store in Tokyo on Thursday, acting as a judge in the "Podcasting World 2006" competition.

The competition was held at the Apple Store in Tokyo's Ginza district. Manabe, who began a podcasting program in May, said she wanted to make her own podcasts more lively.

"I want to get ideas from everyone's work, and liven up my podcasts," the 25-year-old said...more fluff here...

GJ, why don't you see if you can enliven this poor girl a little bit?

She should stay off the video games:
Manabe introduced the three rules of podcasting: "Update the podcasts regularly," "Individuality is important," and "Have fun."

During the event, Manabe was asked, "Haven't your blog updates been lagging a bit recently?" As a "blog queen," her reply was uncharacteristic: "I've been playing lots of video games lately and can't update it," she said. "Maybe I should cut down on video games."
I would add a few to her 'three rules':

Keep it short. Don't talk about stupid shit. Don't speak in a J-voice.. And, if it's a video podcast, take off your clothes..

There's success in simplicity.. ;)
