I love that film. It's the earliest film I've been able to identify that was filmed on location where I used to live, on Traction Avenue, the old Artist's Loft district next to Little Tokyo. It surprised me by dealing with issues of friction between the local artist and Japanese communities, issues that existed even in the 1980s when I lived there.
