All About Japanese Toilets

The popular Japanese site AllAbout has linked up with Toto to start providing information on the Japanese toilet written by "Toilet Guide" Kana Aoki. Her first piece is on who cleans the toilet in the Japanese home. The pie chart above shows that mum does it 81% of the time; her daughter might join her for another 3% and another 1% on her own; granny might also pitch in for a life-affirming 2% while dad will sometimes join mum for a spell in the can and may even do it on his own, presumably if he feels guilty about a recent hostess bar visit. This could be a fascinating series.

Has anybody ever met a J-Person who likes, admires, covets, or even wants to use a J-toilet of the old style.

....I guess that what I am saying is if so many, if not all, of the J-people hate them so much, other being cheaper in price, why do they even install them?

Lots of healthy older people like them because they grew up using them. A few younger people like squatting because they can build up more "pressure" to blast out a load quickly. Think of the salaryman motto: "Eat fast. Shit fast. Fuck fast."

The beancounters at Hitachi told me that they liked squat toilets because employees cannot sleep on a squat toilet (regular toilets are used for napping). Also as the JR claims, accounting/management felt that cleaning squat toilets was faster and it needed less often.

Personally, I like the traditional toilet for a normal dump.

No splashback and easier for the bowels to move and I never have to wipe for a thousand years.
