J-WAVE sets up an ISP

Postby Mulboyne » Sat Jul 29, 2006 1:59 am

J-WAVE is set to become the first company with a broadcasting licence to set up an ISP. Called J-WAVE@NET, it's due to start on August 1st and will offer the domains @j-wave.net and @813.fm. Monthly charges will be 1,950 yen or else 1,155 yen for an email-only service. They are hoping fto attract 10,000 subscribers in the first year.

Up until now in Japan, it has been internet companies trying to get into broadcasting rather than vice versa.
