Hard to imagine having bank notes to burn

.....Gifu Prefecture officials who actually burned or trashed illicit cash they had on hand.
Almost all sections of the Gifu prefectural government had been cooking the books and socking away slush funds in excess of 460 million yen.
To cover their tracks, it seems Gifu officials dumped in the trash or burned about 5 million yen...more...

To burn or trash bank notes is tantamount to taking their lives.


Now THAT’s what I call journalism. Because the whole 'corrupt politicians' angle was kinda played out anyway, but this takes a whole new approach to the story. I give it 5 thumbs up. :thumbs: :thumbs: :thumbs: :thumbs: :thumbs:

Reminds me of the Nagano Olympics...
Former Nagano bid committee member, Sumikazu Yamaguchi, has said that he ordered records of the committee's spending to be destroyed at the end of March of 1992. Yamaguchi has denied any wrongdoing saying the prefectural government of the time was short of space, and that there were no rules stipulating that any of the records needed to be stored.
