Mainichi Daily News, Aug 26, 2006
An estimated half a million people flocked to the Asakusa district of Tokyo's Taito-ku on Saturday for the Asakusa Samba Carnival.
Crowds packed along Kaminarimon Dori, the district's main street, to watch about 4,500 dancers ....more...

We have our own Samba Dance here as well, but it is smaller scale (we don't nearly have as many off duty strippers here). When I last saw it, it had a discernable lack of young beauties, just a bunch of 60 year old exhibitionists and children. :(

That's a lot like Tokyo's samba fest. The crowd consisted of equal number of men and women over 40 and a few younger families (young single guys were absent). The average sambanista is a 30-something OL looking for some "wildness" in her humdrum single life while maintaining her figure. It is admirable that these ladies keep fit---there are some remarkable women in the 50s. Yes, there are some pros and exhibitionists but most of the dancers are just folks bored with their stultifying lives.

It seems nobody cares to post this year's pictures, but you can still view the full MSN-Mainichi photo special on last year's Asakusa Samba Carnival.

Yells "Over here, Over here", while waving hands and jumping up and down in the back of the crowd attempting to get attention of bored single OL with humdrum life!
