Evening classes and (certified) private teachers

Postby dreg » Thu Aug 31, 2006 8:28 pm

I quit my Japanese language school in January after having finsihed Minna no Nihongo 2 (thus taking me to the end of beginner level, according to my school). since then I have been working full time and been relying on day to day conversation to improve. But rather than improving, I am doing little more than trying to prevent myself form regressing. My kanji is rubbish.

I am looking for either a way of getting in touch with some certified one to one teachers, or joining evening classes. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find (m)any resource sites for either of these.

How much should I be expecting to payfor either of these? Private tuition in a school works out at about 6000 yen hour, which seems very steep.

I work in Minami Aoyama (between Roppongi and Shibuya) and live in Nakameguro.

Many thanks

I have private classes with a certified teacher. She charges me ¥3,000 per hour but it is more like an hour and a half. She gives me homework and sets a lesson plan. She is a lovely older lady. I meet her in a coffee shop near my house.

She sounds perfect.

That's what I'd be looking for from a one to one teacher actually, is she in Tokyo?
