I think you're right and I believe your third character is "ro", as in "doro", but it does not make sense (at least to me) in Japanese. Maybe on something from Korea or China, although my guess would be more in favor of China.

Hey - you're right - its those last three characters...

Could be that there is something obscuring the first character - (or not)...

This sign is over a little corridor with a bar, sushi shop, and tempura shop.

Where? You might check the owner(s). If he is from around that area of Miyagi and that's the reason he's using it, it might be worth a free jolt of the good stuff to you for noticing it and definately bragging rights.

Actually, as I'm sure most of you know, it is common for Japanese to use the names of places where their "roots" are, or the ole hometown in businesses, or even in the old days, for naming new cities. You can trace some city names, area names and shrines all the way up Japan to Hokkaido as the people moved Northward fleeing from wars and other reasons.
