JasonGray: "Udon"
...Had some free time tonight for the first time in while, so I walked to my local cinema to catch Fuji TV's big summer release, Udon...The story follows Kyôsuke (Yûsuke Santamaria) as he comes back from a failed bid at stand up comedy in NYC to his tiny hometown of Sanuki in Kagawa prefecture on the island of Shikoku. With the country's highest number of udon shops per-capita, debt-ridden Kyôsuke joins an upstart restaurant magazine that eventually sparks a nation-wide udon phenomenon...more...

Fuji set up an udon stall in Cannes when they were marketing the film for international sales earlier in the year.

I hate most sequels... and I am getting to the point where I refuse to watch them... especially blockbuster crap.

I wonder if this one will suck. I liked the original.

That thread title is a bit misleading. The film isn't a sequel but Fuji is obviously hoping that it will tap into the same market overseas that "Tampopo" found.

If you can handle squinting at a screen. I've just noticed there's a subtitled version of this film on YouTube. Here's part 1:

A subtitled version of this movie has been available for a very long time...nothing "new" about this news, I fear. Moreover, this film is a poor successor in spirit to Tampopo which is a much better film, I must say.
