i met a firesprite in yoyogi park last summer.she was lying under a tree next to a sound system, with a bottle of wine in her hand.Her long brown hair danced over her beautiful big eastern eyes.her english was little.we met the week after in ueno.we ate pancakes up in one of the skyscrapers.getting bowls of fish, sald and egg and frying them on a hot plate.drinking wine, she started singing to me and her cheeks went red.i bought her an ice cream at this little parlour on the street and we ran to this hidden liquer store on the corner where this old woman, grinning from ear to ear, opened up a cheap bottle of red for me.then we headed to the park.the border was littered with skateboarders sliding in and out of coke cans and scraping up the handrails that lead into the green recesses of the park.tramps, lying about in a million shades of brown, grin at the noise of wheels scraping up the sidewalk.further into the park are these fearsome trees that split the sunset and cast dark fractals over the ground, painting a picture of a place that isnt the city.they mark an inward path that leads to the orange glow of a buddhist temple, where more bums are reciting prayer, while ducks glide with content among the lotus leaves in the nearby pond.the water is illuminated by neon shine from the nearby skyscrapers that blink red above the trees, indicating a faraway place from the tranquility of here.She jumped down on to a stone protruding from the edge of the water and laughed at the moon.through the reeds, a ducked quacked at the arrival of us.hand in hand, we left the main park and entered a new place.slim trees and headlights envelope us as we pass a road and climb a new set of stairs.she feels so warm to me now as we hug each other.we keep strolling to a stone statue, and then past more trees, at the end of them at which is another magnificent temple, that has a corkscrew like bronze symbol perched on its top, that reminds me of the void spinning all around us.we stumble upon a playground within the park, which looks so sleepy now, being closed up at this after midnight hour.leaves blow over the slides and the garish colours of the merrygoround are hidden by darkness and further concealed by the silvery grey of the moonlight.Goofy is fast asleep and i trip over a large model of a green tea ice cream.climbing over a low iron gate, we meet Dumbo, and sit in the carriage.wrapped up together in the elephant.brown leaves fly around and cluster up near closed ticket office in front of us.i want to have a go on the swings but shes so sleepy now so i wait till the morning.
