Hoping to attract more overseas tourists to Osaka, a committee comprising the prefectural government and others will hold a contest in November to create 10 dollars lunch recipes for restaurants in Osaka. The contest for the "Osaka 10 dollars lunch" will be divided into a restaurant category open to cooks working for restaurants in the prefecture, and a general category open to all Japan residents. All genres of dishes will be considered, but locally produced ingredients such as eggplant from the Senshu region and Kawachi lotus root must be used. Applicants whose written recipes pass the first examination will proceed to the second examination on Nov. 23, in which they prepare their dishes for judges, including Osaka Gov. Fusae Ota. A first prize and five other awards for each category will be given. The deadline is Oct. 15. Applications must be sent by post. The application form is available at the committee's web site
