But overall, it saved around 2.79 tons of CO2 emissions, so it was worth it.

I don't think she realizes that the plane still flew to Japan, but with other passengers instead.

She's either a fibbing or she ate nothing for 3 weeks. Many times I've tried to book this trip and found Trans-Siberia Railway has many "creative" fees and food surcharges. The bribes alone will cost $5 day to just get access to the "clean" toilet (otherwise you have to poop on the open crack between cars).

Still, it probably beats flying Aeroflot.

I have flown Aeroflot - just a few months back. And I lived... It was very spartan - no entertainment system and no free booze but overall it was fine.

I've heard stories from people who flew Aeroflot and were glad just to have survived.
One of the funniest things I ever read was a story by a photographer who flew around remote areas of Siberia on Aeroflot. One of the best bits was about a Siberian hunter who tried to check in a frozen moose carcass, they couldn't fit it in the cargo hold of the tiny plane so they made him buy an extra ticket and put it in a passenger seat.

It is becoming more popular to take carbon neutral flights which entails offsetting your share of the C02 emissions through buying carbon credits.

:D

I think she should send a message to the world by not travelling anywhere at all.
Mr Kobayashi: First, I experienced a sort of overpowering feeling whenever I was in the room with foreigners, not to mention a powerful body odor coming from them. I don't know whether it was a sweat from the heat or a cold sweat, but I remember I was sweating whenever they were around.
