JSDA exam anyone?

Postby geronimo » Tue Sep 26, 2006 10:27 am

Does anyone here have any expereince with the Japanese Securities Dealers Associaten exam? I can find very little information in english about it and even though I can find some info in Japanese (http://www.jsda.or.jp/) my reading is so s-l-o-w in Japanese that I'm having a hard time locating pertinant information.

From what I hear, the test is designed to be confusing and the english translations are horrible.... yeilding a gaijin pass-rate of about 30%

Are you taking the English version? The pass rate for foreigners in the Japanese version is good. It's one big memory test (including the kanji). I've heard reports that the lower pass rate for the English test is partly a result of the fact that foreigners don't take it seriously enough. Before, most overseas securities people were effectively exempt because they couldn't read Japanese and now they seem to resent having to be qualified. Also, some firms get everyone to take the exam these days which means that a lot of middle office and IT staff are taking it and many have next to no interest in doing enough work to pass first time.

Bottom line, it isn't difficult but make sure you study.
