High Definition DVD - latest info??

Postby vince » Thu Mar 02, 2006 12:03 pm

"...should consumers brace themselves for a future in which music and movies are locked up in proprietary, non-interoperable systems that limit our freedom to enjoy tunes we've legally obtained?"

Will High Def DVDs be produced with intentional unnecessary complexity so that the average person cannot burn DVDs easily with their computer?

What is a good site or blog that is following High Def standards and issues - anybody know??

Has anyone else noticed that the HD-DVD's marekting tag line in the US comes across as vaguely engrish-like with an adjective being used as the object of a prepositional phrase...Are they using this other countries? When I first saw this I thought it was typo or that word perfection had the last three letters accidently cropped out.

If you go to the HD-DVD page it seems this is part of the promotion. I suppose if the next press release boasts the HD-DVD as being "safety format" then we will know it is indeed an Engrish conspiracy.
