Who Are These People and Why are They Here?

Postby mr. sparkle » Sun Nov 19, 2006 11:57 am

OK, I just moved to North Hollywood, CA a couple of months ago. Home of the "D-List", it's all good.

I've noticed a pretty large community of young J-folk (mostly young chickies) looking all hip-hop hangin' at the Starbucks lately. Gotta love them sideways perched trucker hats (is that shit ever going to die?)

Then a little later I'm doing a little grocery shoppin' and a H.I.S. bus rolls up to the Ralph's and 20 of 'em roll into the store chattering like chickens.

Later, I come out of the subway (it's the rockin' ride to Hollywood, BTW) and a J-girl is walking ahead of me-at the crossing 2 more J-girls pass this one and they chatter something at each other. They are all J-trashed up, trashed hair, wearing sweats and trucker caps.

Then I see where she goes: Millenium Dance School. Here's where you take hip-hop dance and salsa lessons.

Is this where the kids come from all over Japan to be down with breakin'? Hmm.

Well, I thought so until I found this website:

http://www.jan24h.com/eng/info.html

Yep. It's right on the corner across the street from Starbucks on Magnolia and Lankershim.

Could there be a mini J-enclave "for the kids" here in NoHo that is dependent on this service perhaps? Hmmm.

They don't go to Mexico, but they sure go to NoHo. :)

Some gaijin fluent in Japanese should go into that place sometime looking for help. I wonder how they'd react.

You know what they say about girls who have a pierced tongue... ;)

"I wasn't stalking him, but..." Famous last words.

Is this girl brain damaged? She certainly "presents" (as the docs say) with the classic symptoms.

There was nothing Japanese about that girl as far as I could tell except that she was cute and annoying.

Cute but annoying=NoHo Girls

NoGo with
NoHo
Ho's that don't know
Cuz they dig
Starbux boy mo'
That's fo' sho'

But ya'll are missing the point. There's REAL J-trash here. Not that made up, "Ain't I cute 'cuz I'm Asian?" shit. Maybe a trucker cap tilted slightly sideways would help.

Hey Sparkle! I used to live in your neck of the woods and have seen the same girls. I knew one who was going to that dance school. It's sort of a random location, don't you think?
