Well one thing you can add this site is how the hell did you survive the noise of those pachinko palaces for many years? [floatl]Image[/floatl]
Are those genetically engineered ears that you can close at will?:p

Yes the noise was, and still is, pretty damn loud! Ear plugs help alot and one learns quickly to use them.

Anyway, welcome to our F'ed G world!

Thanks for the welcome!

Hello to FGville

Postby D. » Fri Dec 01, 2006 7:21 am

Hello,
I'm D. American male, married to J-wife for about 7 and a half years and living in the States. Lived in Tokyo for about 3.5 years in the early 90s, studying Japanese woodblock prints and teaching at eikaiwas to support myself. We're moving to Japan in 2007; the wife first in January to find a job and place to live, me to follow around March after I tie up loose ends here.
The long and the short of it is that the wife wants to spend more time with her parents in their old age and work again in Japan before she gets too old (i.e. over age 35). Should be interesting to see who has worse culture shock, me or my wife.
Anyway, I stumbled on FG a few years back. Always interesting to look around, but now that we're moving back to Japan, it has become a bit more relevant. I work as a business researcher/writer (stopped trying to do the art thing a few years back). Right now, the plan is that I will continue to do my current job remotely from Tokyo which also means my officemates will be 6,000 miles away. Should be interesting to say the least.
D.

Just wanted to say hi, just joined up. This site is great, has everything a gaijin needs to know about Japan without actually doing much research. This site will help me a lot when i go to Japan.

I`m not really new, but I`m back after posting a few times then buggering off for two years. Nice to meet everyone again. If any of you are from Osaka, chances are you`ve ran into me out on the town.

Greetings and salutations. The name is McGunch, Fluwten McGunch. I have traveled the world in my position as a sexual soldier of fortune and spent a great deal of it in Japan. I call home is the center of the known universe, which is more commonly known as the prairie province of Saskatchewan.

In cyberspace, I reside at http://filn.blogspot.com where I am doing my utmost to offend everyone. Unintentionally of course.

Warmest regards,

Nah, I'd loove owning a purple pimping hat. Every day and night I wear some kind of brain lid. Hell, right now I'm wearing my ultra-protective bling-bling nightcap and beer goggles.

That's cool of you to offer the whole book as a PDF like that. I hope you decide to hang around and contribute to the board.
